HeartCaring®
North Florida Regional Medical Center is a nationally designated HeartCaring® hospital for excellence in gender-sensitive cardiovascular care. We are proud to be home to the area’s only HeartCaring® program, and we joined this initiative because it ‘s all about saving the people who are most likely to die from heart disease – people like your mom, your sister, your daughter – women. HeartCaring® believes that dedicated doctors who are part of this initiative can find women at risk before it’s too late – before they develop disease that changes their lives, before it takes their lives. This national program, developed in partnership with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NFLBI) The Heart Truth, is powered by Spirit Health Group® and activated by US hospitals that, like North Florida Regional, ascribe to the highest standards of excellence in women’s health, education and community outreach.
The goal of HeartCaring is simple and expands on the awareness efforts of so many organizations that have done a great job of making women aware that heart disease is their number one healthcare concern. HeartCaring partners with hospitals and physicians who commit to using best-practice tools to identify and treat the most under-diagnosed population at risk for heart disease – women. Those tools include risk stratification, early identification of subclinical disease, as well as appropriate and timely diagnostic procedures and early intervention.
Stay tuned in the coming months as we name the first HeartCaring physicians who will lead the way in focusing on gender differences in cardiovascular care through an innovative approach. We believe HeartCaring will change the lives of women in our community.
