Gastric Banding
Adjustable gastric banding is a minimally invasive procedure in which an inflatable silicone band is implanted into the abdomen. Our facility utilizes the Lap-Band® implant.
The band fastens around the upper stomach to create a tiny, new stomach pouch that limits and controls the amount of food you eat. There is no cutting, stapling or stomach re-routing, so this method is considered the least traumatic of all weight loss surgeries. It is also the only adjustable weight loss surgery, as the band can be adjusted for a "customized" weight-loss rate. This process takes much longer for desired weight loss results as the band must be adjusted over time.
In order to maximize the benefits of the gastric banding, you must be dedicated to a new diet and getting exercise. It’s no secret that a balanced diet including fresh vegetables and fruits and a prescribed daily regimen of exercise will go far toward helping you achieve your weight-loss goal.
